The dog days of summer….

We are in the heat of it, that’s for sure! My 3 year old daughter loves to turn on the sprinkler and run through it with great joy and pleasure. While part of me embraces her enthusiasm just as I did at her age, I can’t help but think of the current water shortage (has anyone looked at their water bills lately???), and what alternative form of water entertainment I can provide to her that will be Eco Savvy and fun all at the same time.

This year, we are trying a few things:

  1. A water table on the grass, so that when little spills occur it waters the grass as well!
  2. Joint watering time – when I water my garden of herbs, tomatoes, onions, and summer flowers, I make her part of the fun. We fill up the watering can together, and she waters the plants for me, thus satisfying her fun time with this chore.
  3. Swimming lessons – all kids love to swim, why not get them some time in the pool and learn some safety as well??
