Great Do-it-yourself Home Cleaning Solutions for Stainless Steel

FavoriteLoadingAdd to favorites

Have you ever picked up a stainless steel cleanser on a supermarket shelf only to be baffled by the long list of unpronounceable ingredients? Yes, we thought so! It’s amazing how many ingredients go into to certain cleansers when some simple home remedies work just as well. I have tried several concoctions that seemed like home science experiments, but discovered that the simple recipes work the best. With the use of four simple ingredients I can make three home cleaners that work very well and are of course non-toxic and safe to use around the entire family.

First, you will want to have:

  • Baking soda – gently abrasive but will not scratch – it just gives you shiny results
  • Club soda – full of alkaline minerals that produce a streak free finish
  • Cream of Tartar – great natural bleaching agent
  • 3 percent Hydrogen Peroxide – wonderful for stainless steel and producing a shine

All Purpose Stainless Steel Cleaner :

1/2 cup of baking soda and 1 cup of club soda

Combine the ingredients in a bowl and then use a damp cloth or sponge to rub onto any stainless steel surface. Just wipe it clean with a dry cloth, there is no need to rinse!

Creamed Stainless Steel Buff Formula:

– For when you need a little more shine!

2 tablespoons cream of tartar

2 tablespoons baking soda

2 tablespoons 3 Percent hydrogen peroxide

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl, and use a damp cloth to gently massage the mixture onto the surface. Let it dry completely, this may take a few minutes.. but then return and wipe with a damp cloth, as you do not need to rinse.

Fixture Cleaner:

Club Soda!!

That’s all you need!  It’s not just for getting out wine stains on your blouse.

It safely and effectively cleans all fixtures around the kitchen and in the bathroom. Just pour it over mineral stains or greasy spots and rub with a cloth until things are sparkling once again!
